Borough Market is a food market in Southwark in Central London. It has very long history – it probably has existed since a thousand years ago. Today’s Borough Market is located next to the junction of Southwark Street, Borough High Street, and St. Thomas Street, just south of Southwark Cathedral and south-west of London Bridge Station and the Shard. London Bridge is also the nearest tube station.
Borough Market Operations
Borough Market serves both wholesale and retail customers.
The wholesale market is open every working day from 2 am to 8 am.
The retail market operates on Thursdays (11 am – 5 pm), Fridays (12 noon – 6 pm), and Saturdays (9 am – 5 pm).
Traditionally, the main items traded are fruit and vegetables, but other kinds of food were added in the recent years. Some of the best known Borough Market traders include Furness Fish & Game Supplies, Artisan Bakers DeGustibus, Peter Gott, Brindisa, and Sillfield Farm.
