Caerleon and Caerwent these are amazing for history lovers.
The gardens and grottoes at Dewstow were a revelation we had a marvellous time there.

The castle and architecture, particularly at that end of town, is nice and the setting lovely. Tintern Abbey is a 6 mile bus ride away and well worth seeing. Unfortunately, you can't walk along the River Wye to it; the designated walk takes you well away from the river on both banks, though this is somewhat due to sheer cliffs! Not much else to see and do in the immediate area and no Sunday buses, so a better midweek break or day trip than a weekend break for non-drivers like myself.
I go for the Chepstow Wassail and Mari Lwyd event on a Saturday in January and tend to stop off elsewhere on the route home on the Sunday because there's no way to get anywhere locally.

Evening meal we had in the bar area, which we appreciated had a limited menu, three of us ordered chicken burger, which too over 30 minutes to arrive, the chicken was tough and over cooked. Taxi was extortionate costing £29.00 to go less than 3 miles - recommended by the hotel! Service is poor when the hotel is full - they do not cope well.

We didn’t go into Chepstow as we were there for the races on 24 th August. It was a perfect stay. The apartment was perfect in every way. Only needed food but the farm shop had all needs.
There wasn’t a pub but take own or buy in farm shop.
Lovely view towards the river.

Very pretty small town with lots of pubs, cafes and eating places to choose from. The beautiful castle set on the river is obviously a big attraction and Chepstow is a great base to visit many other places. Tintern Abbey is just up the road and Raglan Castle is a must see.

Chepstow is a delightful town with many interesting attractions not the best is undoubtedly Chepstow Castle. It has been fantastically well preserved and the wonder of Tintern Abby is a must for anyone staying in or near Chepstow.
Several different types of restaurants including a gem of an Italian one at the bottom of the town just below Chepstow bridge
What surprised me was these beautiful Pizza's made in the clay oven which are a work of art. Awarded Best Pizza in Wales, I would say best in the UK. The hotel is a guest house with accommodation above the Pizza restaurant. This well-thought-out restaurant seems classy and unique, the rooms are small and yet look spacious and it is simple yet uses old wooden furniture giving a homely appeal. My room had two single beds that appear simple but comfortable, I slept well. The river is within walking distance of amazing scenery and a castle.
We stayed for one night whilst on Chepstow and loved the tough to put your finger in ‘atmosphere’. if your looking for a modern 5* chain hotel, this is the wrong choice for you. but wiggly corridors in a historic building, a bustling bar, spilling straight out into the nice old bit of Chepstow, this is the one. special mention to the team - I couldn’t tell who were the owner family, who were staff - but everyone was really nice, warm and friendly. A few were hanging out drinking with the guests late at night too. nice place.
I visited Chepstow alone and felt comfortable and safe staying at this B&B.
The B&B is cute with nice homely touches and the room was warm and nice.
I stupidly locked myself out of my room on Friday night and one of the staff came to help me straight away which was very kind.
The location is really good. I was exploring the Forest of Dean and it was easy to get to the places I wanted to go.
I felt relaxed staying here.
There's a big garden that would be great in the summer.
It has all the modern conveniences and is well designed. easy walk downhill to the castle, restaurants, shops, historic walled city area.restaurant across the parking lot looked very good but we had reservations at a lovely Italian place overlooking the river. Efficient checkin at a little booth inside the restaurant. Nice, professional staff.
Staff all friendly and happy. Massage was lovely (pay extra for it). Pool , jacuzzi steam and sauna area all good and spacious. Plenty of room for getting changed and showered etc . Nice shower gels , also towels if required. Plenty choice for breakfast, nice food . Fair choice of ales etc. Nice room overlooking the lake
Great location approx. 20 mins walk/6 mins drive to Chepstow town centre. Lovely and quiet rural location.Plenty of parking space on-site.
Spacious accomodation with a nice modern well equipped kitchen and en-suite bathroom, with roomy shower cubicle.Contact no. provided for host and prompt response when contacted.
Actual main double bed was comfortable. Decent hairdryer and everything worked well. Plenty of tea and coffee supplies. Clean and tidy room. Quiet and no road noise. Just a 5 min ride from St Pierre venue and a couple of minutes from Chepstow Town centre in the car, which was lovely.
The hosts were very friendly and told us all sorts of interesting stories. I loved the full Irish breakfast! The room was comfortable, although the blankets seemed a bit dated. The area was beautiful - we loved the village of Tintern and the abbey.
Loved the breakfast - amazing! Staff were very helpful and friendly :)
Location was fab - right opposite the main carpark in Chepstow (which is also super cheap!)
It was lovely to be able to bring our dog as the hotel is pet friendly.
Friendly staff. Clean and comfortable. Excellent.value for money. Breakfast generous selection and cooked to order. Great location for Town centre, Tesco and station. Quiet room and parked car outside.
The pub is very old, very characterful and quirky. Breakfast very good, the location was perfect for us, next to the castle and short walk to town centre. We will certainly go back.
clean. well furnished. light and airy, space good, modern equipped kitchen, own off street parking space, short walk from town centre, use of garden, nice setting.
No breakfast. Bed very comfortable and kitchen good if needed. Tea/coffee facilities in room welcome! Very clean. Convenient for the Drill Hall and Town Centre.
Booked last min turned up half hour later and no complaints from me nice location and nice and clean room breakfast was good will deffo use again if in the area
