Mala Strana (Lesser Quarter)
Together with Prague Old Town and Prague Castle, Lesser Quarter is the oldest part of Prague. The origin of these places dates back to the end of 9th and beginning of 10th century. The Czech translation of Lesser Quarter is Mala Strana (as you might know from Lesser Quarter metro station, named Malostranska). Lesser Quarter is a beautiful and peaceful district, mostly a bit less crowded than the Old Town or Wenceslas Square. There are many restaurants, traditional Czech pubs, and hotels in Lesser Quarter. The walk from Old Town to Lesser Quarter over the Charles Bridge takes about 5-10 minutes (but can be much more if you stop in souvenir shops).
