Booking.com = Leading hotel booking website worldwide and particularly in Europe, where it first started.

Expedia = Another hugely popular booking portal, combining hotels with flights, holiday packages and other services on a single website.

Agoda = Belongs to the same group as Booking.com and focuses mainly on Asia, but has good coverage worldwide.

AirBnB = AirBnB has changed the way accommodation market operates. In some European cities their market share is in tens of percent.

HomeAway = A booking website focusing mainly on vacation rentals, beach houses, cabins and the likes.

HostelWorld = Leading hostel booking website.

HostelBookers = Previously the main competitor to HostelWorld, with no booking fees as main selling point. Now part of the same group.

Fligths

Most flight search websites offer similar features and which one you will prefer can be a matter of personal taste and little design details. The following are the most popular ones.

Terravision = This company operates airport shuttle buses in many European cities, including London, Rome, Amsterdam, Barcelona and many others.

EasyBus = Part of the same group as EasyJet. London and other European airports.

ShuttleDirect = Transfer search and booking website offering buses, taxis, and everything in between.

Trains

Eurail = Europe train passes if you are NOT citizen or resident of a European country.

Interrail = Europe train passes if you are citizen or resident of a European country.

Seat 61 = Informational website about train travel in the UK and Europe.

Buses

Flixbus = Cheap bus tickets and dense network covering big part of Europe, but also available in the US. Green buses.

Regiojet = Another bus company with freqent services between European cities, mainly in central Europe. Yellow buses.

Volánbusz = Hungarian bus company, but providing many inetrnation services in the region.

Eurolines = Europe-wide network of long distance buses. Part of Flixbus since 2019.

National Express = Leading UK intercity bus company, providing both domestic and international services.

Megabus = The other big (and often very cheap) bus player in the UK (and also active in the US and Canada).

RentalCars.com = Car rental search and booking portal that belongs to same group as Booking.com.

Money

XE.com = Current and historical foreign exchange rates. Make sure to check especially before exchanging an unfamiliar currency in an unfamiliar location.
