Øster Voldgade is a major street in Copenhagen city centre, connecting Nørreport and Østerport, two of Copenhagen’s busiest train stations. On this page you can find basic information, directions, public transport access, and search hotels.
Øster Voldgade Location
It is located in northern part of the city centre and passes numerous parks and landmarks, including Rosenborg Castle, Botanical Gardens and National Gallery (Statens Museum for Kunst). On the south-western end, at Nørreport, the street continues as Nørre Voldgade towards Hans Christian Andersens Boulevard.
Public Transport Access
Nørreport Station is probably the best-connected place in Copenhagen, as it is where the metro intersects the busiest central section of the S-train route. There is also a network of bus services in Øster Voldgade and the surrounding streets. Plenty of shops, restaurants and nightlife can be found nearby.
Øster Voldgade runs parallel to the railway (S-train) tracks, which are mostly underground in this area. There are large parks on both sides.
Østerport Station at the north-eastern end of Øster Voldgade is the best station to get off when visiting the Little Mermaid. On the way there, don’t forget to stop at the Citadel (Kastellet), which is basically the only thing that separates the Little Mermaid from Østerport.
